SUMMER VACATIONS 2013 , Voluntary Work @ Delhi

As you know, summer vacations are about to start. There are many things you can do to enjoy your vacations. You can go for a tour outside Delhi, go sightseeing in your city itself or, for a change, you can enjoy all this being in Delhi while also doing some little things, literally little things,to bring a smile on a face for someone who lacks it for some reason or other. There is a range of things you can take part in, for your neighbourhood and society, depending upon your interest, skills — and what time you wake up in holidays! You can, for example, teach kids of slum dwellers or construction workers in your college or neighbourhood. Or if you are worried with increasing level of pollution or increasing prices of energy, you might like to work on environmental issues. Then there are people working for the care of old people, like with HelpAge or with DNiP for palliative care of terminally ill. You can also join youth based organisations which give you opportunities to learn and serve at the same time. This summer, try to balance your days between having fun and doing things for your society.
Some of the volunteer work you can do in summers of 2013.

BLOOD DONATION

How will one celebrate the valentine day by going on a romantic dinner, spending time with the loved one, but IIT on the other hand spend the day of love in a very innovative way. A stream of student assembles together to spend this vary day by donating Blood. Around 220 students donated their blood and share love to feel the sensation of happiness by serving humanity; doing a good deed for this vary day was their agenda.
The day was filled with love and happiness; all the volunteers and donors had the greatest time. The atmosphere was all in red and white, red balloons with quite interesting quotes, and red roses for each donor.
The event was a success nevertheless due to the number of donors but also due to the time that all enjoyed.

COMIC CONVENTION

I was startled when I saw the poster of the 3rd Annual Comic Con. Being an Anime fan I didn’t believe a bit that there will be a huge crowd filled with mental like me. And when I heard about Cosplay (costume play) I thought I would probably see lots of Chacha Chaudhary there, but out of my expectation I saw characters from Naruto, Bleach, lots of Wolverine and a number of Jack Sparrow all trying their level best to perfect their disguise.  A number of Mangas and what I like most was Graphic version of novels and that include The Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, 20,000 leagues under the sea, Mahabharata and many more. Besides all the happening on comic side all kinds of souvenir are gaining attention on a huge basis, all kinds of fun humor based T-shirt were worth to buy and on the place like Delhi Haat makes comic convention even more special.
And the best part was COSPLAY the most fun event and it’s become even more special because of MTV VJ Jose Covaco who came as The Replacement man I don’t remember the last time I laughed so much. The event was great and I cannot wait for the COMIC CON next year so all of you who hadn’t attended it this year please go for it next year.

INSPIRE SCIENCE CAMP

Inspire Science Camp is more than its title, its more than just to inspire the students, indeed it created somehow a passion, an innovation and creativity in the mind and soul of students.I talked to many students who attended the camp and they all agreed that, what they expected was just boring lecture talking about stuff that they already had heard from their school teachers but they were  startled by the innovative, interesting and fun filled lectures where professors not merely talked but had a healthy interaction with them.

Professors from different parts of the country show their research, their work and students got an inspiration to do something in the field of science.

Being a student of IIT Delhi, I never had seen any of the lecture events so vivid. One can see lots of camera, lightning every thing was extravagant, extraordinary and all of this just provided a right way to study, a right way to extract knowledge.

The event was held at IIT Delhi and hence, students got the chance to visit the labs. They got a chance to see the real work and the implementation of their book study thus, many of the students I talked to want to pursue a career in the field of Science.

The event was a grand success and students are looking forward for the next opportunity they will get to enhance their knowledge.
